Peter Meanwell

Bio

Peter Meanwell is Artistic Director of Borealis – a festival for experimental music in Bergen, Norway. Commissioning and working with new composition, sound art, improvisation and electronic music he is interested in work that renegotiates the concert experience, and music that falls between the genre gaps. He is concerned with the inherent political circumstances of composition and music presentation, and works actively to incorporate social justice practices in all he does. He is a founding director of Reduced Listening Ltd. a radio and podcast production company focusing on adventurous music, visual arts and ideas, producing content for the BBC, Spotify, Audible, Financial Times, Serpentine Galleries, BALTIC amongst others. He teaches at the Darmstadt International Summer Course for New Music, has written for The Wire, Songlines and the Guardian, and produced radio documentaries for the BBC. He is a co-author of The Breakfast Bible, a compendium of breakfasts.
