Rico Single

Rico Single (born Rashid Amin Abdalla) is an artist from Zanzibar Tanzania.

In 2001, Rico created Swahili Arts Group which comprised more than 40 members, performing traditional dances, acrobatics and zenji flava music.

In 2004, the group participated at the Bagamoyo Arts Festival. In 2005, they released the 'Fadhila za Punda' and 'Hii Sanaa' songs which were recorded at Baucha Records. The group disbanded during the general elections held that same year.

After the demise of Swahili Arts Group, Rico Single went solo and released his first song entitled 'Hili Game' in 2006. The songck generated significant airplay on Zanzibar radio. This was followed by the release of 'Kasimama Peke Yake' (He Stands Alone). Rico has collaborated with such artists as Berry Black, Shirko and Small x.

In 2006, the group's single 'Fadhila za Punda' earned them an award at the Zanzibar Music Awards. In 2010 and 2015 he won the Best Male Artist at Sauti za Busara festival in the Songs for Peace competition.
Rico Single has participated in and performed in international forums such as (Sauti za busara -2015 & 2017) (Ziff -Zanzibar international films festival 2014) (Naam festival 2016 - kisumu kenya) (Kan festival - 2019 & 2020 Arusha Tanzania)

Rico Single is working  many social and dedicated to its Zanzibar community.  Dec 23/2020 has released a new song the song is called (Uchumi wa Blue) and this year 2021 has released his first album.

The album is called (THE KING OF ZANZIBAR) and is available on all digital platforms

Rico Single has also received training in scriptwriting and film directing, has a career in music production and sound management, studied at Bagamoyo Art College (TASUBA) and was fortunate to get a certificate, in those fields. 

In 2021 I have released a song called Jahazi featuring a Jamaican artist who lives in America called A'mari and the song is available on all digital platforms

within the year 2022 I have managed to release one song which is called Pambana and is available on all digital platforms
Oct 18 2022 Rico Single has released a new Audio song called Online and it is available in all digital plutsforms in the world and he expects to launch an Ep soon.
Date 21 Oct 2022 Rico Single participated in the (Tanzanite International Women Sports Festival 2022) which was held at Daresalam Benjamini Mkapa Stadium.
On 12/08/2023, I participated in the World Youth Day celebrations in Maisara grounds, Zanzibar. The official guest was the President of Zanzibar and the chairman of the revolutionary council Hon. Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi.
on 30/08/2023 I performed at a big festival in southern Zanzibar called Kizimkazi festival which was in Paje grounds.
and on 10/09/2023 I have done a video shooting of my new song called (pambana) audio is available on all platforms in the world I hope the video will come out soon.
on 01/12/2023 I have released a new song called (SHAYO) I have featured artists from Nigeria (Og mili and Snows) it is available on all digital platforms worldwide.
