Samuel Mulugeta Jufar
Bio
Samuel Mulugeta is a musician, cultural leader, and arts manager currently serving in senior leadership roles at both Selam Ethiopia and Muzikawi. He serves as Chief Operations Officer (COO) of Muzikawi, the business wing of Selam Ethiopia, and continues to play a leading role in advancing Selam’s mission of leveraging culture for social change.
Samuel graduated in music from the Yared School of Music at Addis Ababa University. After completing his studies, he worked as a music educator at Wollo University and pursued a professional performance career at the National Theatre of Ethiopia.
He joined Selam in 2015, contributing to its state-of-the-art music production studio and strengthening its cultural programming. From January 2017 to July 2022, he served as Country Director of Selam, guiding the organization through a significant period of growth and strategic development. He continues to provide leadership within Selam, supporting its cultural, social impact, and institutional development initiatives.
As COO of Muzikawi, Samuel oversees operations and strategic growth across record label services, music publishing, artist management, studio services, and event promotion. He also serves as the Lead Producer of the Addis Jazz Festival, playing a central role in curating and producing one of Ethiopia’s leading international music platforms.
With a strong foundation as both a practicing musician and cultural executive, Samuel champions the transformative power of culture to unite communities, foster dialogue, and contribute to a more equitable and just society.
