Soul Friends Band
Bio
Formed by the late George 'Mjojana' Shongwe in the mid-1980s, Soul Friends Band is an Afro-pop and jazz outfit from Swaziland. Over 50% of its current members were part of the original band of the late 1980s. Current members include Nhlanhla Shongwe, Thembela Bhembe, Stay Cool Mdluli, Boy Shongwe, Ntombi Ndlangamandla.
The band made headlines back in the 1980s and was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2009 Tihlabani Awards. It was invited twice to perform at the biannual CGF SRI Awards functions normally held at Vodaworld Conference Centre in Midrand, South Africa. The ensemble has also toured and performed in countries such as Botswana, Mozambique and Namibia.
The band is regularly booked to perform at Swaziland's leading hotels, resorts such as the Royal Swazi Spa hotels, Nhlangano Casino, including numerous big organizations during their corporate functions.
