South African Music Education Trust (SAMET)

In the 20-odd years of existence SAMET has reached over 5 000 learners through its music centres and employed over 150 teachers and 60 personnel in its community project committees. SAMET is not just about music - it is about building friendships, creating confidence through performance and finding a new world through education in arts and culture.

SAMET was voted Arts and Culture Education Project of the Year in 1999 by the Arts and Culture Trust of the President. In 2004, SAMET’s CEO was voted Arts Administrator of the Year by the Arts and Culture Trust.
