THISSA
Bio
THISSA is a Mafikeng-born rapper who is known for his unique ability to compliment a beat, please a crowd, and much importantly, enthrall a listener.
THISSA brings together rhymes, flow, imagery and punchlines; complete with a boastful outlook when approaching various subjects in songs. Born Tshepiso Leseyane in March of ‘87, this outspoken MC began his career as a recording artist after becoming active as one of the formers of Pretoria-based rap crew Jade Jewels in 2005.
This later on saw the release of his first solo mixtape and DVD, dubbed Bless The Kid in 2006, which was hailed as one of the first of its kind out of Mafikeng. THISSA then followed-up with a street album entitled SLT: Sounds Like Takeover, which consisted of original material that he produced himself. In 2008, THISSA participated in a nation-wide rap competition titled Versus (which was spearheaded by Jam Alley and broadcasted country-wide); in which he went on to win the provincial leg of the programme which saw him represent North West in the national finals.
Together with crew members 2C and Rayskillz, THISSA also released music under the rap group Jaded from the years 2009 to 2016; while also continuing to put out solo songs and videos to much acclaim (he released the song JEEP, accompanied by a self-directed music video). Within the same period, THISSA also worked in TV as a writer, videographer, and reality show character for a number of programmes for Tshwane TV, as well as GauTV; which saw shows such as 100 Hours A Day broadcasted nationally through DSTv.
THISSA has continued to create music well into the new decade, and has since released his first single of 2020 titled ‘sweet DEMI’, which is proving to be his most successful work yet within the short time span it was released in.
