Ticker T

Ticker T (born Tshikani) is a South African artist, he was born in Johannesburg . He was exposed to house music in 1999 when he attended street bashes in his neighborhood and was intrigued and mesmerized by turntablists performing and moving crowds in these events.

He started practicing the art of turn tabling where he mastered the art. Soon later Ticker T found that DJing was not the only art that moves crowds therefore he left the DJ scene to be baptised in the art of music production, where he returned to the house scene in 2010 and got slots in Changeroom Soweto, Mamelodi, and various events locally.

Ticker revolutionised the Soweto house scene as he was one of the first local DJs to utilise digital midi controllers in DJ sets, this intrigued and mesmirised the crowds who booked Ticker. Ticker T then established a record label and entertainment company in October 2010, and released his debut EP digitally in 2011 titled 'China', the EP. In 2012, Ticker released various singles on the worldwide platform and got local radio airplay.

In 2011, he played various sets on the Durban house scene, killing the crowds at KoKo in Point str and Ghetto lodge, Bluff Durban Kwazulu Natal. Ticker Ts music is influenced by Franck Roger and Kerri Chandler, this is evident from his use of pads and strings to create seductive melodies.
