Bio
Tigger’s love for music and entertaining started at an early age performing in choirs and in various musical productions.
After leaving school, He performed on the circuit for a few years in pubs and restaurants around the country.
1988 saw him relocating to Los Angeles to study at the Musicians Institute where he had the opportunity to study under some great teachers.
The release of Nelson Mandela and the collapse of the apartheid regime encouraged his return to South Africa, and it was at this time that he met and began performing with some of that country’s top musicians.
Artists he toured and recorded with during this period include PJ Powers, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Brian Finch, Wendy Oldfield, Lionel Bastos, Little Sister, Kate Normington, Vusi Khumalo and Fana Zulu.
He performed with PJ at the 1st and 2nd Freedom Day celebrations at the Union Buildings for President Nelson Mandela as well as doing a Royal Command Performance in Durban for Queen Elizabeth II.
2005 had Tigger based in Zurich where he played in various ensembles at functions, weddings, concerts and pubs throughout Switzerland as well as Germany and Lichtenstein.
He has also played guitar and featured on vocals in various blues bands over the years including The Token Jesters, Keep the Change, the Pranksters and Los Desperados.
He has opened for a number of international artists like Mike and the Mechanics, Wet Wet Wet as well as performing throughout Africa, Europe and the USA. Locally he has shared the stage at concerts and festivals with Jonny Clegg, Just Jinger and Prime Circle.
These days, while still working as musical director in PJ Powers’ band, Tigger also records as a session player, performs solo or in duos and bands at various festivals, corporate functions, sporting events, parties, weddings and celebrations as well as performing in clubs and bars around the country where his infectious style and energetic performances continue to thrill audiences.
He sits on the board of Tshisa Talent – an NPO based in the Garden Route that seeks out and nurtures local artistic talent.
He has three children, two of whom have flown the coop – Candice to live, marry and work in The Gold Coast and Basti who lives and plays music in Europe and the US.
He and Paula live in Knysna with their youngest son, Robbie, where they share a house with Wallie, the spaniel, and Fanta Pants, the cat.
