BIO
Anthony Motaung, affectionately known to South African music fans as Tsekeleke, was a beloved kwaito artist born in 1968 in Thembisa, Gauteng. Despite facing significant physical challenges throughout his life, Tsekeleke's larger-than-life personality, infectious energy and unmistakable stage presence made him one of the most recognisable figures in South African popular culture. He rose to national fame with his breakout hit "Fetty Boom Boom," a song that became a cultural phenomenon and cemented his place in the country's kwaito history. Although widely remembered for that signature hit, the song's immense popularity transformed Tsekeleke into a household name, earning him a loyal fanbase and a lasting legacy within the genre. Following his breakthrough success, he remained active in the music industry through performances and collaborations, most notably alongside fellow kwaito star Dr Malinga. Beyond the music, Tsekeleke became a symbol of perseverance and positivity, inspiring many through his determination to overcome adversity and pursue his passion for entertainment. His passing on 1 August 2017 marked the loss of a unique South African talent whose contribution to kwaito and township popular culture continues to be fondly remembered.
