Dr.(NM)Tu Nokwe (aka mamSakhile) was awarded an Honorary Doctorate for Community Development in South Africa. She is a Singer, Actress, Guitarist, Lyrisist, Composer, Recording Artist, Author, Teacher, and a Musical-Storyteller. Her work is driven by her born passion for children, community and social justice. Over 50 years in the industry, she has been crowned with numerous awards as an international ICON, from a family of Artists who has performed around the world and featured in various Theaters, Films, TV Shows and Dramas. The world renowned Broadway Musical Sarafina was her brainchild, and Shaka-Zulu movie was her 1st Film debut, playing the principle role of PAMPATA, (King Shaka's 1st Love). She still performs daily on SABC 1, as the Lead Musical-Storyteller in Mam Sakhile Story House. She continues to serve her life purpose, hosting AMAJIKA Arts and Life workshops with youth/children/artists at her house (which she donated to the community for development, healing, and empowerment). This 'Safe Home' with an 'Artists Residency' will provide a temporary shelter for women and children undergoing Gender Based Violence (GBV).The ultimate divine vision is to lead the Artists and the communities to sustainability, health and wellness, using their talents of (music, arts and Life Therapy Programs.)
