Bio
Yemoh & The Minority Globe is an Afro-fusion band led by artist and activist Yemoh.
Their positive Afro-centric music is the result of an eclectic mix of hip hop, slam, reggae, and ancestral rhythms mixed with Afrobeat and soul. With his conscious lyrics, Yemoh sings about unity, equality and highlights the struggle of minorities and silent voices. Drawing strength from his own story, the artist is creating a singular music project. Abandoned in the desert between Mali and Algeria, the artist recounts that it’s music that has allowed him to cling to life by creating from the life stories he has witnessed. In 2012, the band released its first album Messages from a Stranger, produced between Morocco and Ghana.
In October 2019, Yemoh & The Minority Globe released 'Welcome to Africa', a roots reggae track that pays homage to the “Year of Return”. In November 2019, he released the single called 'Daa Kasi Nii', a festive and humorous song calling on the youth to seek light and knowledge. Daa Kasi Nii means in Ga language, the native language of the singer,” Learn throughout your life".
Learning Learning as the key to happiness and fulfillment is the central theme of this song with its dancing rhythms of Afrobeats and Congolese rumba. In January 2020, the single Migrant Lampedusa is a tale dedicated to the forgotten victims of the seas and deserts, a fusion of Afro beat, gnaoua and slam.
