Zethe
Bio
Hailing from Empangeni, KwaZulu-Natal, Zethe is an
emerging South African artist blending jazz, soul,
and urban traditional African sounds. Her music
is deeply rooted in advocating for mental health
and social justice, using her powerful voice to
inspire change and unity through art.
Based in Johannesburg, Zethe graduated with a degree
in music, majoring in Jazz, from the University of
KwaZulu-Natal in 2016. Since then, she has made a
significant impact on the South African music scene,
performing at prestigious events such as the
South African Music Awards (SAMAs), DSTV Delicious
Festival, Durban International Film Festival, and
at venues like The Durban Playhouse, The Chairman,
and Durban ICC.
Her television appearances include performances
on the Uzalo drama series, the SAFTA Awards, and
various radio and TV programs. In 2017, Zethe rose
to prominence as the first winner of the
Vodacom Nxt Lvl competition. Following this achievement,
she became the face of Johannesburg’s Newtown Junction Mall
and ROCKA headsets, cementing her status as a rising
star in South Africa.
Zethe released her debut single,“Zazi” in 2018,
followed by her 5-track EP “Qhawekazi” which
continues her exploration of themes of healing
and empowerment. Her upcoming album release
“Breathe” promises to further solidify her influence
as an artist committed to driving meaningful
change through music.
