ACCES adds top industry pros to 2023 programme
ACCES 2023 has added six more speakers to the music trade show’s conference programme in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on 9, 10 and 11 November.
Taking place over three days, the music conference will welcome delegates from more than 40 countries. The pan-African platform is designed for music industry players from across the continent to exchange ideas, discover new talent and accelerate the shaping of Africa’s vibrant music sector. It offers a dynamic programme including training workshops, panel discussions, presentations, live performances, networking sessions, exhibitions and visits to key music industry hubs in the host city.
The latest confirmed speakers represent different parts of the global music industry and will share their knowledge and expertise with the ACCES delegates. They are Mpumi Phillips (South Africa), Victoria Nkong (Nigeria), Chuka Chase (US), Sonia Boton-Gboh (France), Kimberly Oxide (Mauritius) and Moody Jones (US).
Mpumi Phillips, who serves as director of distribution at Sony subsidiary The Orchard, has extensive experience in music clearance for film, TV and ads. She was a music supervisor for popular South African TV productions like Rhythm City and Beyond the River.
Victoria Nkong, an associate producer of the All Africa Music Awards, joins the ACCES 2023 with a background as a multilingual entertainment consultant, talent manager and public speaker. Her focus is on youth development and capacity building.
MOMIX research and development manager Kimberly Oxide focuses on promoting cultural mobility and professionalisation within the cultural industries, while SymphonyOS founder Chuka Chase’s career is driven by a vision to democratise music marketing by offering creators the right tools to elevate their businesses and expand their reach. Chase’s prior collaborations with artists like Childish Gambino and his involvement in marketing campaigns for Mac Miller and Travis Scott highlight his dynamic approach to the industry.
Completing the latest batch of speakers are EMPIRE general manager of dance Moody Jones, who has worked on campaigns for artists like XXXTentacion and Snoop Dogg, and Roxanne founder Sonia Boton-Gboh, whose work bridges the gap between brands and urban artists to create connections through product placements, endorsements and brand content.
The full ACCES 2023 conference programme will be announced soon.
