Africa Rising Music Conference adds Dutch performers to 2022 line-up
Africa Rising Music Conference (ARMC) has unveiled a new cohort of Dutch musicians who will perform at its 2022 edition, to be held at the Hallmark House Hotel in New Doornfontein, Johannesburg, on 24 and 25 May.
The Dutch musicians include hip hop producer Spanker, multi-instrumentalist and producer Yung Dada and renowned vocalist Frenna.
Previously announced artists comprise Eritrea-born vocalist Rimon, Ghanaian artist BnnyHunna and South African-Dutch singer-songwriter Joya Mooi who will perform on the opening night.
The event will discuss topics such as Women’s Voices: Amplifying them in the music business, Building Bridges: Exchange between Africa and the world, and Independent Africa: Developing, understanding and creating new opportunities.
This year’s edition saw ARMC partner with Dutch Music Export (DME) to bring a host of international artists and more than 150 delegates from across the world engaging with ambassadors and other participants. The conference will feature a range of panels, podcasts and meetings.
The ambassadors include an all-female cohort from the industry including Women In Music’s Tumi Mogapi (South Africa), artist and songwriter Money Ba Doo (South Africa), Anyiko PR’s Anyiko Owoko (Kenya), artist and producer Jamiie (Germany), and Afrohouse Beatport curator Dieuwertje Heuvelings (Netherlands).
“We as the Dutch Music Export are truly proud to create such a versatile space for connecting, learning and building within the music industry,” DME said.
The event was announced in March. At the time, AMRC publicist Bridgette Makhela said: “The aim of this programme is to empower and enable South African-based executives to successfully move into the international space as well as providing valuable insights and connections for international stakeholders looking to work and understand the African market or for those currently working in the territory from a distance.”
Other ARMC partners include Women in Music South Africa, MTN Bushfire Festival, the Berlin Music Commission, and Hallmark Hotel. Visit the ARMC official website for more information about the event. Participants can get tickets by registering here.
