African Children’s Choir to release Christmas album
Amid their tour of the US and Canada, the African Children’s Choir are set to release their new Christmas album, Emmanuel - An African Christmas, in December 2015. The first single off the album, the title track ‘Emmanuel’, is due to be released on Monday 23 November. The song combines the angelic voices of the children’s choir with older alumni to provide a choral masterpiece that will not only warm hearts but spread the Christmas cheer.
Recorded in South Africa, Emmanuel - An African Christmas, is comprised of 10 songs. It was produced in 2014 in collaboration with UK-based producer and songwriter Tre Sheppard. The album features Choir41 of the African Children’s Choir and the mature voices of the Young African Singers, a collective of singers who were once part of the Choir but are now at university. Though he has worked on numerous records with a wide variety of talented and award-winning artists in top studios around the world, Tre Sheppard said recently that working with the African Children’s Choir is so far his most rewarding experience.
Since 1986, the African Children’s Choir has successfully managed to tour and perform throughout the Western world. They have staged powerful performances with internationally recognized artists such as Michael W. Smith, Uganda’s Maurice Kirya and renowned British songwriter Gary Barlow (at the 2012 Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Celebrations). The African Children’s Choir is credited with the development of talented vocalists like Omega Bugembe Okello (who was in their very first choir), Kaweesa Richard, Barbra Kayaga and Jemimah Nasanga.
Copies of Emmanuel can be purchased via the choir’s website or on iTunes.
