AFRIMAs to host Cameroon conference
The All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMAs) will hold a music and culture conference at Las Vegas VIP in Douala, Cameroon, on 28 June 2019.
Those expected to attend include music professionals, creative experts, cultural industry practitioners, recording artists, record label executives, artist managers, publishing companies, policymakers, government officials and media practitioners.
The AFRIMAs will engage the participants on details of the entry submission process ahead of the awards ceremony in Accra, Ghana, from 6 to 9 November.
Discussions will also touch on the awards’ build-up events, which include the Turn Up Africa music concert and conference, the adjudication process, the nominees’ announcement, public voting and the main events such as the Africa Music Business Summit, AFRIMA Music Village and the awards night.
“AFRIMA is sharing the spirit of pan-Africanism for greater collaborations in culture, music and entertainment for sustainable development in line with the African Union (AU) cultural agenda for peacebuilding, integration, democracy, economic advancement and youth social development," AFRIMA Central Africa director Ernest Ewane said.
Organised annually in partnership with the AU, the AFRIMAs are a music and cultural initiative developed to celebrate, reward and showcase the rich musical heritage of Africa.
The event also seeks to stimulate conversations among Africans and between Africa and the rest of the world about the potential of Africa's culture and artistic legacy to create jobs and reduce poverty.
Meanwhile, musicians can still submit applications to be nominated for this year's awards. The application deadline is 2 August.
