Atlantic Music Group announces new leadership
Atlantic Music Group (AMG), part of Warner Music Group (WMG) and home to African pop acts like Nigeria’s Burna Boy and CKay, as well as South Africa’s Major League DJs, has announced a new leadership team and structure.
Effective 1 October, Elliot Grainge will step into the role of AMG CEO, succeeding Julie Greenwald after her two-decade tenure.
“Atlantic Music Group is home to the most extraordinary artists and executives in the world,” Grainge said. “This great label has moved through a meaningful transition and emerged with a world-class team made up of ambitious innovators and veteran visionaries. We have a plan to build on the extraordinary achievements of the last twenty years, honour the independent DNA of our labels, and collaborate with artists to pioneer a future filled with opportunity. To all our artists, managers, and partners, we are committed to a single principle – maximum impact for original artists. We’re looking forward to doing big, bold, brave things together.”
WMG CEO Robert Kyncl added: “AMG will be lean, agile, fiercely creative, and deeply passionate about artists and their fans. We’re opening an exciting new chapter in the story of an iconic label. Elliot has thoughtfully chosen a team that combines a wealth of experience, a diversity of expertise, and a commitment to excellence.”
According to a statement, the leadership changes will see “forward-thinking” executives helming Atlantic Records, 300 Entertainment, and 10K Projects, with 10K operating as a standalone venture under WMG. Existing imprints such as Elektra, Fueled By Ramen, and Roadrunner will continue under the AMG umbrella.
Lanre Gaba has been promoted to president of hip hop, R&B, and global music at Atlantic Records, working alongside Lu Mota, who takes on the role of EVP and head of A&R, and Marsha St Hubert, who becomes EVP and head of marketing.
Additionally, Kevin Weaver has been appointed president of West Coast. Brandon Davis and Jeff Levin will serve as EVPs and co-heads of A&R for pop and rock, with Marisa Aron being promoted to EVP and head of Marketing for the genre.
At 300 Entertainment, Rayna Bass and Selim Bouab have been named co-presidents. Meanwhile, Nicholas Ziangas and Molly McLachlan have been promoted to co-presidents of 10K Projects.
The restructuring will combine key functions at Atlantic, 300, and Elektra to establish a centralised artist development service. This initiative will encompass creative, legal and business affairs, promotion, digital marketing and analytics, sales and streaming, A&R research, A&R administration, and marketing operations.
For Atlantic Music Group, Craig Kallman has been elevated to chief music officer, while Zach Friedman and Tony Talamo will serve as chief operating officer and general manager, respectively, after joining 10K Projects in 2018. Erica Bellarosa has also been promoted to general counsel, while Dave Rocco has been appointed president of creative.
Further appointments regarding department heads will be made in the coming weeks, including a new role for Gregg Nadel within WMG’s recorded music division.
