Audiomack launches performance platform for SA artists
Music streaming service Audiomack has launched a platform that will connect artists and their audiences through a series of live shows across Africa.
Audiomack House made its debut in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 5 March, with performances from leading female DJs Uncle Waffles and DBN Gogo. The company is set to hold more similar events across the continent, bringing together music enthusiasts and some of the most talented artists.
“We are thrilled at the many opportunities that Audiomack House presents,” Audiomack Africa vice president marketing and brand strategy Charlotte Bwana told Music In Africa. “As a company, we are dedicated to making premium musical content accessible and we are always seeking new ways to build stronger bonds within Africa’s entertainment communities. By creating immersive live experiences and providing access to musical talents for our subscribers, we hope to foster a deeper connection between fans and artists alike.”
Bwana said the platform was designed to highlight and celebrate the next generation of emerging talent in South Africa while providing Audiomack users with an opportunity to connect with and experience their favourite artists for free. Apart from launching Audiomack House in Johannesburg, Audiomack has hosted workshops in Lagos (Nigeria), Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) and Accra (Ghana). It has also held smaller scale events in other countries run by its ambassadors.
She added: “Audiomack has been able to help a lot of African artists achieve millions of streams globally. We’ve seen billions of global plays for African artists. We also put money in tens of thousands of artists’ pockets via Audiomack’s premium monetisation (AMP) and by allowing artists to withdraw streaming revenue via the creator app. Through our partnerships with Afrochella and the Rising Star Challenge initiative we have been able to create a platform for upcoming artists to be discovered.
“We have always had our feet on the ground and are keen to understand the culture. As a platform we have various ambassadors in 13 different countries who have a pulse on the entertainment industry in their various countries to help us tap into subculture and identify key opportunities in their respective regions.”
Bwana said they plan to expand Audiomack House across Africa. “Audiomack House is a platform that we plan on taking to the rest of the continent and, hopefully, other continents too. Our Keep the Beat Going campaign, which started off in Nigeria, then Ghana and now South Africa is an initiative we also plan on continuing for the rest of the year in other regions as well.”
Audiomack senior vice president of marketing and brand strategy Jason Johnson said: “Audiomack House aims to bring subscribers closer to the diverse world of African artists, moving the music industry forward by enabling subscribers to connect with their favourite artists beyond listening to them on the platform.”
