Busiswa, Slikour, Gigi Lamayne, Msaki, Priddy Ugly confirmed for ACCES 2021
South African music industry heavyweights Busiswa, Slikour, Msaki, Gigi Lamayne and Priddy Ugly have been confirmed as speakers for the 2021 ACCES music conference, which takes place at Sci-Bono and Constitution Hill in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 25, 26 and 27 November.
They join an impressive line-up of influential music industry experts from more than 40 countries, including event producer and journalist Rashid Lombard (South Africa), Visa For Music project manager Afaf Abahoua (Morocco), Black Major’s Sevi Spanoudi (South Africa), Afro Nation Ghana producer Ruddy Kwakye (Ghana), Dakar Music Expo founder Dudu Sarr (Senegal) and Ongala Festival director Aziza Ongala (Tanzania), among many others.
Together, the music professionals boast a wealth of experience in the African music industry. They will take part in the ACCES Conversation series where they will talk about their success in the industry and provide delegates with tips on areas such as music distribution, management, branding, marketing and collaboration.
Busiswa – a boundary-breaking, award-winning singer, songwriter and performer – has been involved in various collaborations with African and international artists. The prolific songstress will talk about the benefits of musicians collaborating together to build a strong ecosystem for African music creators and share her views on the evolution of the music industry and the strategies needed to unite African artists to reach global audiences.
Rapper, singer, songwriter and poet Gigi Lamayne will delve into her multifaceted art and speak about what it takes to set yourself apart in the African hip hop industry, while former Skwatta Kamp member-turned-entrepreneur Siya ‘Slikour’ Metane will lead an informative discussion on SA hip hop.
The ACCES Conversation series have previously featured renowned artists and industry professionals like Sarkodie, Samini, Sway Dasafo, Mr Eazi, Blinky Bill, Blick Bassy, Efya, Skales and former Fela Kuti manager Rikki Stein.
Featuring international speakers, networkers and showcasing artists, ACCES offers a strong conference programme that includes industry talks, pitch and networking sessions, workshops, exhibitions and music performances.
Performing artists confirmed for ACCES 2021 include Stogie T (South Africa), Thandiswa Mazwai (South Africa), Sampa the Great (Zambia), Laliboi (South Africa), Moonga K (Botswana), Morena Leraba (Lesotho) and Ikati Esengxoweni (South Africa), who will all perform at the I AM HERE concert through a partnership with Bassline on 27 November, as well as Msaki (South Africa), Urban Village (South Africa) and Diamond Thug (South Africa). More artists, including acts presented through a partnership with Reeperbahn Festival International in Germany, will be announced soon.
Registration for ACCES 2021 is mandatory and on a first-come, first-served basis. African delegates register for free.
