Call for applications: 2019 arts project funding in SA
The National Arts Council of South Africa (NAC) is calling on individual artists and registered arts organisations to apply for arts project funding.
The NAC will accept applications from the following disciplines: music, theatre, dance, visual arts, craft and literature.
Individuals and registered arts organisations can apply for funding within the following programmes: social cohesion and nation-building, innovation, design and creation of new work, capacity building, strategic initiatives, platforms, exhibitions and festivals.
Applicants need to register and complete an online application form using this link. The submission deadline is 30 March and application outcomes will be known on 30 June.
“Projects proposed should be of national significance taking into account strategic imperatives of creation of new works, arts development, arts promotion, job creation, capacity building in arts entrepreneurship and facilitation of access to the arts,” the NAC said.
“Preference will be given to applications that promote environmental sustainability, nation-building and social cohesion and have a strong community base conceived in collaboration with others working in similar fields.
“Proposed projects must demonstrate impact and value for the communities they operate in. The project applied for must fulfil two or more of the following arts outcomes: economic value, creative value, social value, therapeutic value and educational value. This invitation also encourages arts organisations and individuals that support the involvement of women, youth and people living with disabilities, particularly in historically disadvantaged areas.”
