Call for applications: 2021 I Tatti residency programme in Italy
Harvard University’s centre for Italian renaissance studies, I Tatti, and the German Historical Institute (DHI), are accepting applications for their joint residency programme to be held in Rome, Italy, during the 2021 and 2022 academic year.
The I Tatti fellowship offers post-doctoral scholars working on African studies, or topics that closely consider Africa, a ten-month position to conduct historical research in Italy supported by two institutes with dynamic academic communities.
Fellows will first spend time at DHI from 1 September 2021 to 30 January 2022, where they will each receive a monthly stipend of about $2 900 plus a monthly supplement of $1 200 for rental costs. The participants will then relocate to I Tatti, where they will reside from 1 February to 30 June 2022 and will each receive a monthly stipend of $4 200 and an additional once-off supplement of $1 500 to cover the relocation expenses.
“With this fellowship, I Tatti, and the DHI Rome seeks to stimulate and support increased scholarship on cultural exchange with and within the African continent during the period c. 1250-1750 by creating and promoting opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaboration, particularly between scholars from African regions and those working in European and North American institutions,” I Tatti said.
