Call for applications: Creative Force grant in Sweden
Applications are now open for the first rounds of the 2020 Creative Force programme. Organisations that use media and arts to strengthen democracy, freedom of expression and human rights are encouraged to apply.
- Swedish Institute director-general Madeleine Sjöstedt.
The Creative Force programme is a grant project of the Swedish Institute that is open to Swedish organisations and their partners in target countries who work through media or the arts to strengthen democracy, human rights and freedom of expression.
The African target countries include Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Libya and Morocco.
The Creative Force programme offers two types of grants:
Seed Funding
This type of fund is available for carrying out a small project or for preparing a larger project for which the applicant plans to seek funding. The Swedish organisation and its international partner can apply for up to 100 000 Swedish krona (about $10 000). The proposed initiative must be completed within 12 months of funding being granted (30 April 2021 at the latest).
Collaborative Projects
This type of fund is for larger projects that should involve knowledge exchange, capacity building or method development. The Swedish organisation and its international partner are advised to apply for the fund to support a project that has previously received seed funding. The amount available for this grant is 500 000 krona per a 12-month period. A project may last 24 months at most from funding being granted (in other words, applicants can apply for up to 1 million krona). Twelve-month projects must be completed by 30 April 2021 and the 24-month projects by 30 April 2022.
Eligibility
To qualify, the organisation must:
- Be registered in Sweden.
- Have been registered for at least one year (for seed funding) or two years (for collaborative projects).
- Write the application jointly with its international partner.
The application deadline is 30 January.
