Call for applications: Dakar Music Expo 2022
The organisers of the Dakar Music Expo are accepting applications for its 2022 edition, which will take place in the Senegalese capital from 3 to 6 February.
The annual pan-African event is the brainchild of promoter and artistic director Doudou Sarr and is sponsored by legendary musicians Youssou N’Dour and Angélique Kidjo.
The festival invites guests to “discover Dakar and its musical roots” through a series of concerts, panels discussions, presentations and masterclasses, among other activities. It also serves as a networking forum for musicians, producers and other industry players.
This year's edition will run under the theme, Celebrate Music, and will feature a digital programme presented in a hybrid format due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Who can participate?
The call is addressed to:
- African musicians, singers or groups
- African-Caribbean artists, musicians, singers or groups
Requirements
Interested applicants must submit the following:
- A high-quality, 10-minute video of their performance on stage (DJ or Live band option).
- A biography of eight lines (maximum).
- Two HD photos (minimum 2MB).
- A letter of recommendation from a recognised cultural institution or a recognised cultural actor from the country of origin.

The submission deadline is 25 December 2021.
