Call for applications: Pro Helvetia residencies
Pro Helvetia Johannesburg has announced an open call for its 2023 residencies.
Residencies aim to foster creative exchange between artists and cultural practitioners in Switzerland and their counterparts in southern, East, Central and West Africa. Residencies provide artists with the opportunity to live and work for an extended period of time in a different cultural environment, build international networks, gain inspiration and develop new projects and collaborations.
The application deadline is 1 March 2022.
Applications must be submitted in English via the myprohelvetia online portal.
Who can apply?
- Artists and cultural practitioners from Southern, East, Central and West Africa can apply for a residency in Switzerland.
- Artists and cultural practitioners from Switzerland can apply for a residency in Southern, East, Central or West Africa.
- Artists and cultural practitioners in the fields of visual arts, design and interactive media, music, literature and performing arts, as well as arts practitioners with a transdisciplinary focus, are eligible to apply.
Selection criteria
- Convincing track record: professional activity with a national/transregional reach.
- Context-related motivation.
- Sufficient knowledge of English.
- Concrete exchange project with a lasting impact.
About the residencies
Residencies last for up to three months. Pro Helvetia provides accommodation, daily allowances, professional support, travel expenses, a contribution towards production and material costs (on request) and a workplace (on request).
