Call for entries: Africa Educates Her creative content
The African Union (AU) is accepting creative content for its Africa Educates Her campaign, which seeks to advocate and lobby for the development of post COVID-19 strategic plans for girls to get back to school.
The campaign was launched in August and will run until December. The activities lined up for the campaign include webinars and youth pop-up conversations on social media.
The selected submissions will be shared on the campaign's blog and form part of the Africa Educates Her documentary, which will be released at the end of 2020.
"COVID-19 has affected over 133 million female learners across the continent and more than 10 million of them risk not returning to school if we do not take action that guarantees their return once schools reopen," the AU said. "Evidence is pointing out that girls and women are suffering disproportionate effects of this pandemic, as they bear the burden of care work, and are vulnerable to gender-based abuse."
