Call for entries: Singeli collabo competition in Tanzania
Chitoto Record's studio in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, is inviting singeli musicians to submit entries for the Muziki Tap Collaboration competition.
Singeli's signature sound consists of frantic loops and beats, and MCs spitting satirical lyrics. Independent artists looking to share their talent with a wider audience are encouraged to participate.
"Artist collaboration is one of the biggest creative forces driving Tanzanian music today," Chitoto Records founder and producer Johnson Adam told Music In Africa. "Collaborations between established and upcoming artists is probably one of the best success strategies out there because it is a great way of tapping into a new fan base and springboard your career to the next level."
The public will vote via the Muziki Tap Collaboration official website after the finalists have been unveiled.
Chitoto Records will facilitate a recording session between the winner and an established singeli artists such as Msaga Sumu, Mzee Wa Bwax, Sharks, and Dullah Tribes. The runner-up will get a recording contract with the studio.
