Call for online auditions: Nigerian Idol Season 8
Online auditions are currently ongoing for Season 8 of the Nigerian Idol talent competition ahead of its premiere on 7 May.
The singing reality show is produced by Africa Magic TV and is open to undiscovered Nigerian musicians aged between 16 and 30 years. The competition will reward the winner with a cash prize of ₦30m (about $65 000).
Previous winners of the competition include Mercy Chinwo, Moses Obi Adigwe, Evelle, K-Peace, Kingdom Kroseide and Progress Chukwuyem.
The auditions will close on 28 January.
Eligibility requirements
- Participants must be 16 to 30 years of age.
- Only Nigerian citizens can apply.
- Applicants must live in Nigeria.
- Participants in previous seasons of Nigerian Idol are not eligible to apply.
- Applicants must have a Nigerian international passport or a national identity number (NIN).
- Have an active mobile phone number.
- Have an active email address where they can receive messages for the audition.
- Have a YouTube channel.
How to apply
- Interested participants may register for the audition by filling and submitting the online application form here.
Note:
- Audition videos should not be longer than 30 seconds.
- Files of up to 100MB may be uploaded. Supported files to upload: .mov, .flv, .f4v, .m4v, .mp4, .avi, .mpeg, .mpg, .mkv, .wmv
- Songs must be performed without accompaniment, instruments or a backtrack.
- Music videos, produced singing or tracks, and live performance videos in front of an audience are prohibited.
What happens after submission?
- Once an audition has been submitted, an automated email response will be sent confirming that the audition has been received.
- Contestants will receive a further email informing them as to whether their audition was successful or not.
- Should an online audition be successful, entrants will be invited to audition in person in front of the Nigerian Idol judges.
