Call for registration: Sing Out! choral singing course in Nairobi
The Kenya Conservatoire of Music is calling on interested participants to register for the Sing Out! choral singing course in Nairobi.
The course will equip the participants with foundational knowledge of various elements of choral music and help them to learn to sing within the context of a choir.
The two-hour online sessions explore skills in music that are of benefit to members and directors of choirs involved in various genres, including classical, popular and traditional music.
It will also help develop core skills in choral directing, while aural classes will enable singers to develop their perception and execution of rhythm, pitch and tonal structures and sight reading.
Aims of the programme:
- To improve sight-reading proficiency.
- To teach basic skills in music to make more literate singers.
- To help choir members become better singers.
- To teach essential choir directing skills and practices by introducing them to choral conducting techniques.
- To prepare the Sing Out! participants for the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) choir syllabus.
Admission requirements:
- Participants must be 18 years and above.
- Background in music is not required.
- Limited slots for 20 sopranos, 15 altos, 10 tenors and 10 basses.
Duration:
The course will take two terms to complete. Each term runs for 12 weeks. At the end of the course, candidates will sit for the ABRSM choral exam.
Fee:
Ksh12 000 per term.
Exam fee will be confirmed later.
Date and time:
Lessons will be held every Thursday from 5pm to 7pm.
