Call for registrations: Talented Africa competition
The International Music Academy (IMA) in Durban, South Africa, is calling on African artists to register for the Talented Africa competition and stand a chance to win $70 000.
Talented Africa was recently launched by IMA founder Anthony Kabugo Nyanzi, a Ugandan musician living in South Africa, and seeks to develop the natural talents and abilities of Africans.
Registration is open to:
- Musicians
- Magicians
- Dancers
- Comedians
- Poets
The competition will take place within three months and in four stages:
- Stage 1 – Uganda (East Africa).
- Stage 2 – Online open auditions (Continental).
- Stage 3 – Zimbabwe (South/Central Africa).
- Stage 4 – South Africa for the semi-finals and finals.
Regional auditions will commence in the second week of October when the judges will select the top 20 entrants from every region for the quarter-finals, the top 10 for the semi-finals and the top five for finals.
This year’s jury includes Albert Nyathi (Zimbabwe), DJ Pius (Rwanda) and Zahara (South Africa).
“We call up everyone who believes in themselves and is confident to represent their flag while doing something good for themselves to register,” IMA said. “Talented Africa management will provide flight tickets and accommodation for those who will make it to the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals, because they will take place in South Africa.”
Note:
- Those who cannot make it to the initial stages will be allowed to audition online due to COVID-19.
- The competition will be broadcasted live on NBS TV in Uganda and Honey TV (DStv channel 173).
