Deezer HiFi now available on mobile platforms
Deezer announced this week that its high-fidelity (HiFi) service is now available on mobile platforms.
Deezer’s HiFi subscription uses lossless FLAC, offering CD-quality audio in its purest form. The plan is now also accessible on supported devices running Android and iOS.
Users can download more than 52 million FLAC-quality songs, playlists or mixes, and listen to songs offline without interruptions from advertisements. Subscribers can also access 360 Reality Audio tracks in the 360 by Deezer app.
“We’re proud to say that we’re completely obsessed with sound,” chief product and growth officer Stefan Tweraser said.
“If you turn on HiFi and close your eyes, it’s like you’re in the studio with your favourite artist. Having Deezer HiFi on mobile and web means you can always feel this, even if you’re on the go.”
Deezer says it has seen a 45% increase in HiFi subscribers worldwide in the past year. The music streaming service first introduced the format in 2014 and later extended it to desktops before this week's announcement.
Following this step, Deezer has joined Tidal, Quboz and Amazon, all of which offer similar products. The French-born company Quboz recently dropped the lossy MP3 format in an attempt to maintain quality standards on its platform.
To kick off HiFi on mobile, Deezer has launched a new campaign that features artists such as the Rolling Stones and The Beatles.
Deezer is also offering Deezer HiFi subscriptions at R119.99 per month, with the first 30 days free until 31 December 2019.
