EUNIC Zimbabwe is a coalition of European embassies and cultural institutions in Zimbabwe. The cultural showcase is a fusion of art, science, and environmental activism. It seeks to bring together Zimbabwean artists and creative practitioners from across Europe to explore climate change through collaborative, multidisciplinary artistic expression. The event aims to foster cultural exchange and promote sustainable development by encouraging dialogue between European and Zimbabwean creatives.
The showcase will mark the culmination of months of collaboration, featuring artists from France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and Sweden, alongside Zimbabwean counterparts.
It will feature a rich collection of artistic experiences, blending culinary arts with dance, musical performances, fashion with fine art, and photography with mixed media. Notably, many of the exhibits will highlight sustainability through the use of recycled materials, with furniture, crafts and fashion designed from repurposed items.
In line with its commitment to inclusivity, the exhibition will be broadcast in local languages to 14 community radio stations nationwide. A key segment of the programme will be a panel discussion focused on climate change in Zimbabwe, specifically examining issues around water resources and shifting rainfall patterns. The discussion will feature a mix of artists, scientific experts and community representatives, providing a multifaceted look at how climate change is impacting everyday life.
