Ghana: Kelvynboy shares For The Kulture EP
Ghanaian singer Kelvynboy has released his new EP For The Kulture. The project, released by Blakk Arm Entertainment, is available for streaming and download across all major digital platforms.
Comprising seven songs, the project follows his 2020 debut album Black Star and was heralded by ‘Down Flat’ and ‘Vero’. It features fellow Ghanaian artist King Promise, Nigeria’s AV and Tekno, as well as UK rapper Stefflon Don.
Sonically, For The Kulture harks back to archetypal highlife, characterised by dextrous melodies, lavish percussion, string and horn work. However, a track like ‘Getting Better’ is coloured by amapiano. Thematically, the work mainly surrounds romance, self-confidence and inner peace.
Kelvyn Boy, formerly signed to Afro-dancehall singer Stonebwoy’s BMG label, made his local debut in 2017, releasing a string of singles. His urban sound quickly set him apart as a distinctive voice and landed him a number of awards. He is also behind the 2019 EP T.I.M.E.
“With For The Kulture, Kelvynboy highlights his tremendous skill and maintains his status as a major musical force – a befitting offering from an artist who has quickly become Ghana’s top global Afrobeats export,” a statement reads.
Meanwhile, Kelvyn Boy recently joined ONErpm following the company’s expansion to Ghana in June. ONErpm’s growing artist roster in Ghana also includes Wendy Shay, DopeNation, Fameye and E.L.
