Horus Music launches publishing arm
Global digital distribution and label services company Horus Music this week began operating a new, dedicated arm focused on publishing.
Established in 2006, Horus Music enables artists, labels and rightsholders to publish their music on approximately 200 download, streaming and interactive platforms. The company holds direct partnerships with leading global digital service providers such as Apple Music, Amazon Music, Spotify and Deezer.
Horus Music Publishing was first announced in November 2023, aiming to optimise revenue for users’ music and ensure no potential income streams are overlooked. The company claims to provide an outstanding royalty rate, allowing artists to retain 90% of their performance and mechanical income.
Horus Music’s publishing service operates through its bespoke My Client Zone technology, and concentrates on gathering three distinct types of royalties: performance rights, mechanical rights and lyric rights.
“The wait is finally over, and we are incredibly proud to introduce you to our brand-new service Horus Music Publishing,” said the company announcing the new service, available from 4 March. “With so many artists wanting to dedicate more of their time to creating great music, Horus Music Publishing empowers you to focus on being creative, whilst we take care of the admin and ensure you are earning the most amount of revenue for your music.”
Leading up to the launch, the company disclosed that this recent development has been a long-standing dream, specifically aimed at new music publishers or those entering the realm of music publishing for the first time. Horus added that the initiative aligns with the vision of “creating a space for independent artists to manage their distribution, marketing and publishing all in one place.”
“I am immensely proud of what my team has achieved with Horus Music Publishing,” Horus Music managing director and CEO Nick Dunn said. “The new tools form part of an essential suite that helps artists, labels and rights holders of all levels to maximise their income with ease.”
Individuals can sign up as a single songwriter, while publishers can create an account to register works for multiple artists.
