Invitation: music and entrepreneurship workshop in Kenya
The Kenya Copyright Board (KECOBO) and the entertainment firm PHAT have announced a music and entrepreneurship workshop.
The workshop will take place on 3 October from 2pm - 5 pm at the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) premises in Nairobi. The training is geared towards empowering Kenyan musicians by providing information on copyright.
For interested parties unable to make the Nairobi training, KECOBO will post updates on its Facebook page ahead of similar workshops to be hosted in other counties.
Some of the questions that will be handled by professionals, including musicians Tim Rimbui and Fena Gitu, at the workshop are:
- Can Copyright be sold?
- What is the Role of the Kenya Copyright Board?
- Does the current copyright law apply in the digital environment?
- When a song from an album is played on radio, which rights holders are entitled to the royalties?
- Do licensees understand why they pay for listening to a radio and watching a television from the comfort of their premises.
Register now for 1 out of 120 seats available. And for more information, visit the KECOBO website. If you would like to attend the conference, click here.
