Kenya: Nviiri The Storyteller releases Inside Out album
Kenyan musician Nviiri The Storyteller has released a new studio album titled Inside Out.
The debut LP, released on Sol Generation, features collaborations with top local and international acts including Bien (Kenya), Bensoul (Kenya), Chike (Nigeria), Bayanni (Nigeria) and Töme (Canada).
Inside Out is a testament to Nviiri’s growth as an artist and takes listeners on an immersive journey through three conceptual phases – Bwana Sherehe (party animal), Love & Heartbreak and Consciousness.
The artist lives up to the Storyteller moniker by seamlessly transitioning between these distinct phases, each representing a crucial aspect of his personal and artistic development, with the album inviting listeners to delve into his world and experience the full spectrum of human emotions.
In the first phase, Bwana Sherehe, Nviiri dives deep into the thrilling and exuberant party lifestyle that artists often lead. Bearing infectious beats and lively melodies, this segment of the album is bound to get audiences moving to its irresistible beats.
Transitioning into the Love & Heartbreak phase, Nviiri lays bare his soul and opens up about the complexities of love and the roller-coaster of emotions that come with it. Through heartfelt lyrics and soul-stirring melodies, he captures the highs and lows of romantic relationships.
The final phase, Consciousness, speaks to Nviiri's personal growth – marked by life lessons and his spiritual journey as an artist. Here, we see evolution and self-discovery, an introspective chapter that encourages listeners to reflect on their own experiences
The project was unveiled at an exclusive pre-launch listening party at the SoundCity Radio studios in Nairobi on 8 June.
“I am really excited for everyone to experience this body of work,” Nviiri said during the launch. “It is a 15-track album, so there is a lot of substance for my fans to enjoy.”
Nviiri is also the cover artist for Apple Music 1’s Africa Now Radio programme, and will join show host Nandi Madida via FaceTime this weekend. The artist is expected to discuss the new album and how he experimented with new sounds when creating it.
