Kenya’s PAVRISK distributes $186k in first royalty pay-out
The Performing and Audio-Visual Rights Society of Kenya (PAVRISK) has distributed KSh24.018 million (about $186 000) in royalties to its members following its inaugural Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on 16 September 2025.

According to the organisation, the payment was made to 5 887 verified and approved members who had updated their details on the membership portal. PAVRISK said the move represents a step towards strengthening fair and transparent royalty distribution in the country.
The society noted that a wave of new registrations, currently exceeding 5 000, is still undergoing vetting by the Membership Vetting Committee and requires board approval before confirmation. Once approved, new members will receive formal communication via SMS and email, including a membership number and an approval letter, enabling participation in future distributions.
In August 2025, PAVRISK released a draft of its proposed Consolidated Music and Audiovisual Tariffs for 2026–2028, setting out revised licensing fees across sectors such as entertainment venues, broadcasters, hotels, public transport and digital platforms. The tariffs, which remain under consultation, propose increases in several categories and introduce new charges for emerging sectors such as streaming and motorbike operators.
PAVRISK operates on a bi-annual distribution schedule in April and October. It is licensed by the Kenya Copyright Board (KECOBO) as a multi-right collective management organisation representing authors, composers, arrangers, performers and audio-visual rights holders.
