Listen to Drip Gogo’s new single Unobubele
South African artist Drip Gogo has released a gospel-influenced amapiano single titled ‘Unobubele’ ahead of the unveiling of his debut album.
The song features Mvzzle and Mazet SA and is available for streaming and download on all major digital platforms.
The Emahlaleni-born singer has always dreamt of merging his music with his spiritual gift, and ‘Unobubele’ is one of the amapiano singles aimed at dispelling stereotypes about spirituality.
He exaplains why he made a gospel-inspired amapiano song: “The message in this song is that regardless our religious beliefs, God is God. We all are equals, no one is better than the other. We need to stop social stigmas and judgments. We aren’t perfect and therefore learn from our mistakes and allow alignment to take place. In God, we shall find peace.”
Drip Gogo signed with DJ Sumbody’s Sumsounds label and shot to prominence in his first musical appearance on the hit single ‘Iyamemeza’ featuring label mates The Lowkeys in May 2021. The song became a success and was certified gold four months after release.
“It’s right and relevant to drop something that is in sync with the current state of situation,” he said. “People are going through tough times, depression, making bad decisions and choices due to the pressure brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. It's the right time we reconnect with God and seek peace.”
Drip Gogo, born Nhlanhla Moqhayi in 1998, began singing at the age of eight. He released his debut single ‘Ayavuma’ in November 2021.
