MENA: Rotana Music inks deal with Anghami
Saudi Arabian record label Rotana Music has struck a partnership deal with Anghami, which will see the label’s content distributed on the music streaming platform globally.
Established in 1993, Rotana Music is home to prominent Arab artists including Mohammad Abdo, Abdul Majeed Abdullah, Rashid Al Majid, Abdullah Al Ruwaished, Majed Al Mohandes, Rabeh Saqr, Nawal Al Kuwaitiya, Ahlam, in addition to Amr Diab, Assala, Elissa, Tamer Hosni, Najwa Karam, Sherine Abdel Wahab, Angham, Wael Kfoury, Saber Al-Rubai and others from the Levant, Egypt and North Africa.
The deal was concluded in Riyadh between Rotana Music Holdings’ CEO Salem Al Hindi and Anghami founder and CEO Eddy Maroun.
Anghami said that the deal marked a reunion between the two companies, after the label was named as a key partner when it launched.
“We are thrilled to commence this partnership with Anghami which will also strengthen the relationship between Rotana and its artists,” Al Hindi said. “We are confident that this collaboration will expand the business even further with the purpose of reaching Rotana music fans across the world.”
Maroun said: “We are delighted to welcome Rotana to Anghami. This partnership represents a major addition to our already unrivaled selection of Arabic music and will give Rotana’s portfolio of artists and outstanding Arab talent a powerful platform to share their voice with the world.
Rotana Music Holding is home to seven of Forbes Middle East’s Top 10 Arab Singers. Anghami boasts a catalogue of more than 75 million songs, 75 million registered users and about one billion streams a month. Earlier this month, Anghami signed an exclusive multi-year deal with global Arab star Amr Diab to be the sole digital distributor of his entire catalogue and future releases.
