Nigeria: Kiiwii back with new single Pose
Nigerian singer Kiiwii has dropped his new single ‘Pose’, which is available for streaming and download across all major digital platforms.
The record, his first release for the year, is a playful upbeat offering blending Afropop rhythms and other dance elements. Thematically, the record retains a carefree vibe the artist says is designed to lift spirits and get listeners moving.
Kiwii told Music In Africa that he recorded the song following a conversation with Burna Boy about making music, who advised him to “drop it as it comes” and not overthink it. “I hope my listeners will enjoy themselves with this and still spot the originality in it,” he said.
Born Cecil Rollins, Kiiwii describes his style as Afro-trap, which blends Afropop with trap influences. His music celebrates life, joy, and the rich cultural heritage of Africa. His other singles include ‘Feelz’, ‘Ruler’ and ‘Pain Go’.
Meanwhile, Kiiwii recently secured a record deal with Sony Music West Africa, joining fellow Nigerian acts F3line and Mayorkun, as well as Ghana’s Gyakie and Asomacy, among others on the stable.
“When I heard about Sony being interested, I was excited, because I know that means I will be heard across the globe,” he noted about his deal. “I hope achieve nothing but greatness.”
On his journey so far, Kiiwii noted that it hasn’t been easy; nonetheless, he is still forging ahead.
