Nigeria: More speakers confirmed for Africa Music Business Summit
Industry leaders including Ninel Musson, Sam Onyemelukwe and Tarek Nojara have been confirmed for this year’s Africa Music Business Summit (AMBS), which will take place at the Eko Convention Centre, Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos, Nigeria, on 19 November.
Organised by the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMAs), the forum forms part of the activities designed around the annual awards. This year’s edition will run under the theme, Monetising Music in Africa, and will see leading authorities on global music trends and business discuss revenue and rewards for African artists.
Afropop heavyweight D’banj earlier this month was announced as the keynote speaker for this year’s edition. The AMBS keynote address will focus on revenue generation, collection and sustainability, with three-panel sessions on individual elements that form part of the monetisation process of African Music.
There will also be panel discussions facilitated by industry vets such as South Africa-based Vth Season co-founder and chief operating officer Ninel Musson, Trace TV West Africa managing director Sam Onyemelukwe, El Batron founder and CEO Tarek Nojara, Hip TV Nigeria managing director Ayo Animashaun and MTN Nigeria senior manager for sponsorship and promotions Osaze Ebueku.
Others participants will include South African artist Casper Nyovest, Nigerian singer Mr P and Morocco’s Manal.
The panel discussions will explore areas including building a cult following as an artist, how the industry is going digital, as well as modern technologies and various challenges in the industry.
AMBS will take place from 9AM to 2.30PM WAT. Registration for attendance is free and ongoing, and interested participants can register for the event here(link is external).
Held in partnership with African Union Commission, the AFRIMAs have honoured and spotlighted African talents and creatives globally since 2014. The AFRIMAs 2021 main award ceremony comes off on 21 November 2021. Voting and ticket sales are ongoing on the AFRIMAs website(link is external).
