Open call: Musicians and DJs for NewComma 2024 events

NewComma is a social media platform for black and African creatives seeking to connect, showcase their work and discover opportunities. The company is behind the NewComma Creative Fund, a monthly microgrant to support African creatives with no strings attached.⁣⁣⁣ To date, the organisation has granted more than $5 000 to 22 recipients in various countries.

Key responsibilities (musicians)

• Perform live music sets at NewComma events in the designated cities.
• Collaborate with the NewComma team to ensure a seamless integration of music into the event experience.
• Engage with event attendees and music enthusiasts to share insights about musical journeys.

Experience

• Proven experience as a musician with at least three projects in NewComma, showcasing unique musical style.
• Flexibility and adaptability to collaborate with a diverse team.
• Excellent stage presence and communication skills.

Key responsibilities (DJs)

• Curate and perform DJ sets at NewComma events in the designated cities.
• Collaborate with the NewComma team to ensure seamless integration of music into the event atmosphere.
• Engage with event attendees and music enthusiasts to create an energetic and inclusive environment.

Experience

• Proven experience as a DJ with NewComma portfolio containing at least three projects that showcase mixing style.
• Versatility to adapt sets to different event atmospheres and cultural contexts.
• Excellent communication skills and a passion for connecting with diverse audiences through music.
• Networking opportunities with fellow DJs, music enthusiasts, and industry professionals.
• Promotion of DJ sets through NewComma’s extensive marketing channels.
