Princess Wonda features Awilo Longomba on Fiesta
British-Nigerian Afro-fusion songstress Princess Wonda has released ‘Fiesta’ featuring Congolese soukous maestro Awilo Longomba. The single, released on Dreamers Management, is available for streaming on major digital platforms.
Produced by Dami Bones, ‘Fiesta’ is Princess Wonda’s fourth release since January 2020, which marked the beginning of her solo career.
‘Fiesta’ is set to the exuberant rhythms that have dominated the party circuit in West and Central Africa over the decades, combining Afrobeats and urban Francophone sounds like soukous, of which Longomba is a central figure. Thematically, the song is an invitation to let loose.
Princess Wonda says ‘Fiesta’ heralds her debut album, which is slated for July. “It is a collaborative masterpiece that has assembled a brigade of pre-eminent African musicians across the continent and the diaspora,” she said about the upcoming album, which features guest appearances from US-based Nigerian act Nestreya and US-based Ghanaian Aakosya.
“It is infused with African sounds, including Afro-swing, Afro-amapiano, Afro-hip hop with traces of melodic R&B and pop. It is also wrapped up in bold hypnotic sensual themes that embody the philosophy of liberation and strength in a fearless woman dynasty style.”
Princess Wonda, born Princess Funmilola Fisher, also hosts the Princess Talks podcast. She is behind the singles ‘City Boy’, ‘Bank Stops’ and ‘Bust My Mind’ featuring UK-based Ghanaian producer D’wante Navire.
