SA: Ami Faku’s ‘Into Ingawe’ is certified Gold
South African artist Ami Faku has received a Gold plaque for her single ‘Into Ingawe’ which features Sun-EL Musician.
The development comes before the release of her debut album Ndikhethe Wena at the Boardwalk Amphitheatre in Port Elizabeth.
“A miracle happened,” Ami Faku wrote on Facebook. “Dreams come true and everything just fell into place.”
Sun-EL Musician also wrote on Twitter: “This is truly amazing. We thank you.”
‘Into Ingawe’ is a slow tempo song that resonates with the masses as it dabbles between gospel synths and uplifting maskandi sounds. Faku sings in her native xhosa language, disseminating a sense of victory, hope and purpose to the usual everyday struggles. The song was released in June and has more than 1.2 million YouTube views.
Faku is undoubtedly one of the most talented singers in South Africa who finds her solace in modern Afropop. With influences from such artists as Daniel Caesar and Sabrina Claudio, her sound is unique and resonates with most artists. She has worked with artists such as Ntsika Fana (The Soil), Jethro Tait and David (Kiffness) as well as producers Wilson Okafor, Nobel Music, Eternal Africa and 37MPH.
