Up Next is Apple Music’s monthly global artist programme geared towards identifying, showcasing and elevating rising talent. The announcement coincides with the release of Hersh’s latest EP Peace of Mind. The project draws inspiration from Hersh’s experiences, with the title of the project reflecting on the scope of the artist’s expansive and enigmatic style.
Hersh will be featured on Apple Music’s South African Up Next playlist, which includes a dynamic class of new and emerging artists who are handpicked by Apple Music’s editors around the world.
“I am proud and honoured to be selected as the Apple Music’s Up Next South African artist,” Hersh said. “It makes me happy knowing that I am doing what I love and that my music has a relatable experience or has made someone feel good. I’m all about chasing my dream and in my music I encourage people to do the same and these things help make your dream come true.”
Hersh joined the music scene in 2020 after taking part in the Red Bull Made in 72 Hours project, which saw him collaborate with Gina Jeanz and Juzzy CPT in isolation to create an R&B track called ‘Tonight’. His signature style is a blend of old and new school hip hop. He quickly caught the attention of Sony Music Entertainment Africa, which signed him in May.
The vast global Up Next roster of past talent includes Rema, Mr Eazi, Burna Boy, 6lack, Daniel Caesar, H.E.R., Greta Van Fleet, Khalid and Amy Shark, among many others.
