Symphonic Distribution unveils new tools
American independent music distribution and marketing platform Symphonic Distribution has announced the rollout of four new tools to enhance efficiency, integrity, time management and financial oversight for its users.
Symphonic was founded in 2006 by Jorge Brea, who doubles up as the company’s CEO. In May 2021, Symphonic announced its expansion into Africa, with South Africa’s Tamsanqa Ngxeketo as its head of territory.
The newly unveiled suite includes Transfer Track, SplitShare, Enhanced Recoupments and an update to Marketing Drivers. Symphonic’s patented Transfer Track tool streamlines the process of transferring existing music catalogues to the platform by utilising an artist’s Spotify page link. This feature facilitates swift distributor switching for music labels, minimising the challenges of metadata re-entry and making transitions more accessible. It also preserves playlist placements and stream history, unifies catalogues for independent artists, maintains metadata integrity and consolidates analytics.
“We don’t use the word revolutionary lightly, but that’s what we believe these new tools really represent for our users at Symphonic,” Brea said. “These tools are built on unique approaches to solving common music industry problems that unlock powerful new abilities and make them more accessible to everyone.
“This highlights our continued mission to enable independent artists and labels to bring their music and message to the market, while being able to utilise the most state-of-the-art tools the music industry has to offer.”
The Recoupments tool automates financial recoupments for artists, labels and production teams, eliminating manual calculations and providing a user-friendly interface for expense tracking and enhancing efficiency and operational simplicity.
SplitShare enhances transparency and control in royalty split management, providing collaborators with detailed visibility of percentages and streamlining the distribution process. It eliminates the need for complex spreadsheets, allowing collaborators to access analytics data and verify royalties through their free Symphonic accounts.
Additionally, updates to the Marketing Drivers process align clients’ marketing details with the release set-up in Symphonic MS, creating a meaningful ‘elevator pitch’ for features and playlisting.
Symphonic’s newly announced tools add to a long list of features available to clients, including streaming and user-generated content analytics, catalogue management, video distribution, fingerprinting services, YouTube Rights and content ID management, neighbouring rights, marketing, royalty advances, physical distribution, sync licensing, mixing and mastering, and more.
In addition, users can take advantage of Symphonic’s Spotify Discovery Mode tool, which in its year-long beta test saw a 235% lift in radio and autoplay streams for enrolled tracks.
