Uganda’s Blankets & Wine fest to end year with great line-up

Uganda’s gifted songwriter and a soulful performer, Kenneth Mugabi will set the pace with his rich unique voice. Kenneth Mugabi first caught public attention as one of the top contestants as one of the top contestants of Coca-Cola's Rated Next competition. He has since been featured in many performances on a national platform. 

Swahili Nation shall walk the concert goers through their work, right from where they started out, to where they are now. The group made its maiden appearance on the scene way back in 1991 in Stockholm Sweden.  At the time, the group was made up of two brothers from Kenya; Alfred and Robert Muturi, Cool James (Dandu) a DJ from Tanzania and Ken Daniels Kayongo from Uganda. The group later changed when Cool James and one of the Muturi brothers left and Charlie King from Uganda joined up.  It was not until they signed with Nigerian born Dr. Alban and singer Wayne “Tatz” Beckford in 1996 that they really made a significant contribution to African music. Together, they produced the singles ‘Malaika’, ‘Nyama’, and ‘Hakuna Matata’, for which they received a nomination to Channel O Music Awards in South Africa.

The Kansoul, a trio of versatile artists from Kenya performing Genge music will offer the new sounds from Kenya.  Formed in 2014 the group comprises Madtraxx, Mejja, and KidKora who have continued to release singles after their debut song ‘Dabo Tap’.  For revelers Blankets & Wine promises to be a great event with music from the past and the present.
