Voting commences ahead of VGMAs 2019
From today, followers of the Ghanaian music industry can vote for some categories at the upcoming Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs).
The list of nominees was released over a week ago and, according to the event's calendar, voting commences today.
The following categories are open to the public vote:
- Gospel Song of the Year
- Highlife Song of the Year
- Hiplife Song of the Year
- Hip - hop Song of the Year
- Afropop Song of the Year
- Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year
- Gospel Artist of the Year
- Highlife Artist of the Year
- Reggae/Dancehall Artist of the Year
- Hiplife/Hip-hop Artist of the Year
- Rapper of the Year
- Group of the Year
- Best Collaboration of the Year
- Most Popular Song of the Year
- Artist of the Year
- New Artist of the Year
- Best Music Video of the Year
The organisers will, however, not open voting for the following categories: Songwriter the Year, Record of the Year, Best Male Vocal Performance, Best Female Vocal Performance, Album of the Year, Instrumentalist of the Year, Sound Engineer of the Year, Producer of the Year, Traditional Artist of the Year, Life Time Achievement Award, African Artist of the Year, Artist of the Decade and Best African Collabo.
The event calendar for the 2019 VGMAs starts on 6 April with a Nominees Jam at Kumasi Mall, and continues on 16 May with the VGMA Industry Awards Night in Accra before the main awards on Saturday 18 May.
The voting window will be open until early May. To vote, individuals are asked to use the code 1767 on Vodafone-only phone lines.
