Voting opens for 2019 MTN Liberia Music Awards

The event, touted as "Liberia’s biggest music awards", sees this year’s nominees list featuring several rising artists such as J Slught, Barsee Mocopala Kiloda, T Floyd and MC Caro.

The three main categories are Artist of the Year, Song of the Year and Album of the Year. The main categories continue to be male-dominated, with female acts represented in other categories such as Traditional/Gbema Artist of the Year, Reggae/Dancehall Artist of the Year, Hipco/Trapco Artist of the Year and Collaboration of the Year.

CIC and Bucky Raw are tied at six nominations each, followed by T Floyd and Stunna with five and four nods respectively.

The awards’ advisory committee chairperson, Chris Wolo, said the nominations were "initiated by the submission of entry forms by technical personalities to the advisory committee."

"The awards committee is composed of experts in various fields of music who screen nominations for eligibility and category placement. They determine the five finalists in each category," he said.
