Bio
Mozaik (real name Muzi Ngwenya) is a Swaziland born artist who was born on 12 March 1985. He draws his musical inspiration from Drake, Phonte, Jay-Z, J.Cole and Kanye West. He is an award winning producer, rapper, singer, sound engineer, songwriter, DJ and founder of Claiming Ground Records. The label caters for all music genres. Muzi was brought up in a musical family. His mother was a member of Manzini Choir and the father was a huge collector of music. He spent two years in Scotland studying Sound Engineering and the Music Industry.
He has produced for award winning artists such as South Africa based Afro-soul artist Nomalungelo, RnB sensation Tiyas, Msimisi, hip-hop artists KrTC, Psycho Lution as well as Crax and many more.
Some of his accolades include the production of Swaziland’s 2010 biggest album by Siyinqaba titled ‘The Album’. The album won the following categories: Album of the Year, Hip-Hop Album of the year and one of the songs on the album got a nomination for Song of The Year.
He also co-wrote Nomalungelo’s album ‘Imiyalo’ which went on rotation on a number of radio stations in South Africa and Botswana. In 2009, he was appointed Entertainment Manager at Tinkers Sports & Entertainment Bar in Manzini. In 2010, he was one of the judges at the Shine Music Talent Show. In 2011, he was the music director at The Tihlabani Awards.
He has done scores for films, voice-overs for radio adverts and jingles. He also produced and co-wrote the theme song for KFC’s ‘So Good’ campaign. Other projects include collaborations with DJ Qness, he co-wrote and recorded ‘Everything’ featuring Msimisi which is one of his biggest singles. He produced a feature on the Coke Studio collaboration with DJ Qness and December Streets titled ‘Can You Feel It’. He also produced DJ Qness’ latest single featuring Kyle Deutch titled ‘My World’.
In September 2014, he was given a lifetime opportunity of taking part in the ‘All Africa Song Contest’. He was chosen from a list of five artists and these include Mshikishi Mdzebele, Zodwa Samboko, Diba Diba, Fanaza and Soul Friends.
