Call for applications: MAPAS 2020 in Spain
The Market for the Performing Arts of the South Atlantic (MAPAS) is calling on African musicians and other performing artists (theatre, dance, street arts and circuses) to apply to take part in business meetings and artistic showcases in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain, between 9 and 11 July 2020.
MAPAS provides platforms to performing artists where they can showcase in front of industry professionals. MAPAS also hosts various workshops where participants get to network and expand their global reach.
The application deadline is 13 March and successful candidates will be notified on 8 April 2020.
Who can apply?
- Individual musicians and/or professional music groups.
- Individual artists and/or groups and professional companies that work in the fields of theatre, dance, circus and street arts.
- Agencies for performing arts.
Note that MAPAS neither caters for costs of travel expenses, transport of cargo and scenography nor offers remuneration for the showcases.
Requirements
- Give an account of at least one year of experience through images, audiovisual material, press, acknowledgements and awards, among others.
- Accept the terms & conditions in the guidelines of this call, as well as the terms for data usage by the companies in charge of the event.
- Complete the application before the deadline.
Support from MAPAS
For successful candidates, MAPAS will:
- Provide usernames and access to the business meeting scheduling platform.
- Provide technically adequate spaces for artistic showcases.
- Make a work plan and coordinate with the companies for the correct execution of the showcases.
- Call and invite programmers, producers and other professionals that could be interested in each of the performing arts areas that the event offers.
